# 1 Zabbix agent template werking

Stappen om de juiste werking van templates te waarborgen die metrieken verzamelen met [Zabbix agent](/manual/concepts/agent):

1. Zorg ervoor dat Zabbix agent is geïnstalleerd op de host. Voor actieve controles, zorg er ook voor dat de host is toegevoegd aan de 'ServerActive'-parameter van het agent [configuratiebestand](/manual/appendix/config/zabbix_agentd).
2. [Koppel](/manual/config/templates/linking#linking_a_template) het template aan een doelhost (als het template niet beschikbaar is in je Zabbix-installatie, moet je mogelijk eerst het .xml-bestand van het template importeren - zie het gedeelte [Standaardtemplates](/manual/config/templates_out_of_the_box) voor instructies).
3. Pas indien nodig de waarden van de template-macro's aan.
4. Configureer de gemonitorde instantie om gegevens te delen met Zabbix.
